House of Blues

I can see myself sitting in that chair with my feet tucked up under me, sipping on a nice cup of hot coffee.

Talking to a friend...chatting on the phone...reading a book...looking at a magazine...working on my laptop...

Can't you see me?

Love all the natural light coming in from the window.

The flowers.

The table and lamp between the chairs.

And those chairs. Look how comfy they look.

This is a winner for me.

A Kitchen The Heart of The Home

Heart of the HomeA Kitchen

This kitchen is so welcoming not only for guests but for the cook too.

Did you notice there are no upper cabinets?

I've not always been a fan of open shelves in the kitchen instead of cabinets but these work well.

I like the pop of color on the stools.

The style of the pendant lights is a nice touch as are the large print pictures.

Yep, I like this kitchen.

House of Blues #6

This is my House of Blues pic of the week.

A warm cozy spot with pops of navy blue.

The blanket and the flowers are such a nice touch to this setting.

Even though there is not much wall space, the space that is available was not forgotten.

House of Blues #5

Beach Shelving

Love the rustic look.

This shelving definitely has character.

What room would use this shelf in?

House of Blues #4

Hello color, bright shades are making a return to kitchens.

What comes to mind when seeing this kitchen?

Very retro.

I like the accent blue pieces displayed on the shelves.

The blue stove brings out the blue in the countertop.

Fun, happy kitchen.

What about you, what do you like best about this kitchen? And would you dive in and change up your appliances to these bright shades, if money was no option?

House of Blues #3

Blues & Green perfect combination and so inviting.

The curtains really pull this room together.

I also like the different patterns in the fabric curtains and pillows.

The flowers and the green vase add a nice touch. Little things can add so much punch to a room.

House of Blues #2

Like the color blue but not too much blue, like me?
How about a stunning blue door and area rug to complement it?

This entry would be cheery on a dark dreary rainy day.

I'm fond of the mirror over the entry table.

The red in the area rug really makes this small space pop.

The House of Blues #1

6 years ago I started re-decorating my home using blues as my base color or as a strong accent color, all because of a picture that was really important to my husband that hung on one of our walls.

Love those blue pendant lights
and how it makes the blue in the chairs pop.

Blue was never one of my favorite colors to decorate with in the past but I've come to love the color. I love the look and just as important the way it feels. Cool, refreshing and calm. I don't think I will ever change from this color palette.

This is what I have learned about the color blue.

Blue is a cool and calming color that shows creativity and intelligence. It is a color that symbolizes loyalty, strength, wisdom, and trust.

Blue seeks peace and tranquility and promotes physical and mental relaxation. The color blue reduces stress and creates a sense of calmness, relaxation, and order. Try and lie on your back and look up at the blue cloudless sky. Blue lowers metabolism. The paler the blue color, the freer we feel.

Light blue represents health, healing, tranquility, understanding, and softness.

Dark blue is associated with knowledge, power, integrity, and professionalism.

This is how the color blue affects you
  • Soothes and relaxes, prevents chaos
  • Opening up communication
  • Extends your perspective and intuition ability
  • Provides a feeling of coolness and peace

Now that you know of my new love for blue, each week I will post a blue picture to inspire us to decorate with one of the many shades of blue. I may even post a picture or two of something blue from my home.
