Rolled Sugar Cookies

This is my mother's recipe and just for you Cousin Jacquie. She's been searching for this recipe and I here I had it the whole time.

3 cups four (sifted)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter
7/8 cup granulated sugar
1 egg beaten
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 tablespoons of milk

Mix and sift 2 1/2 cups flour and baking powder. Cream butter, gradually beat in sugar, then egg, vanilla and milk. Gradually add just enough or remaining flour to make dough stiff enough to roll. Chill thoroughly and place on lightly floured board. Roll 1/8 inch thick and use a lightly floured cutter. Place on greased baking sheet and bake in a moderately hot oven. 375 degrees for 12 minutes.

Yum
